Fjor is a high-growth, profitable consumer health company with tens of millions in annual revenue, on a clear path to nine figures. Our payments infrastructure is our single biggest liability and our single greatest opportunity. It is a complex, high-risk environment that is currently holding back our growth.
We are not looking for a manager to oversee our existing setup. We are looking for a Payments Owner to lead the migration to a flexible, multi-acquirer architecture.
You will not just "manage payments." You will own the critical part of our business, transforming it from a source of risk into a strategic advantage that unlocks millions in revenue and enables us to scale without fear. If you are a high-risk operator who wants to build, own, and win, this is your opportunity.

Your 90-Day Mandate
Your success will be measured by your ability to deliver on these three outcomes in your first quarter.
- Launch the First Phase of Our New Payments Infrastructure: Own and execute the launch of decoupled payments architecture, processing a minimum of 10% of all new US volume through a new orchestrator and billing engine. This initial deployment must deliver a minimum authorization rate uplift of +2% on initial payments.
- Slash Opex & Secure New Terms: Secure new commercial agreements with all key payment partners (PSPs, prevention alerts) that lock in a minimum 20% reduction in our total blended processing cost rate, putting us on a clear path to >$1M in annualized savings.
- Establish Systemic Risk Control: Onboard a minimum of two new acquiring partners and implement a resilient, multi-acquirer infrastructure with the tools to actively manage our risk and maintain compliance with all card network monitoring programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect & Build: Lead the architectural design and execution of our next-generation payments infrastructure, managing the full lifecycle from vendor selection and integration to a complete migration from our current platform.
- Drive Performance: Live in the data. Continuously analyze and optimize our authorization rates, developing strategies for routing, fallbacks, and dunning to maximize revenue.
- Manage Risk & Compliance: Act as the primary owner for our relationships with PSPs and card networks. Proactively manage our risk profile to ensure business continuity and compliance with all monitoring programs.
- Own Commercial Outcomes: Take full ownership of all payment-related costs, including processing fees, vendor contracts, and fraud losses. Relentlessly optimize for margin and efficiency.
- Lead Commercial Negotiations: Lead all contract negotiations with payment vendors, securing best-in-class terms that provide both cost savings and strategic flexibility.
Who You Are
- Proven High-Risk Operator: You have 5+ years of deep, hands-on experience in payments, with a significant portion of that time spent in high-risk, direct-to-consumer subscription businesses. You have built and scaled resilient systems before.
- Technical Architect: You are not just a strategist. You can read API documentation, design a payment flow, and have credible, in-depth conversations with engineers about architecture and implementation.
- Data-Driven Executor: You have a demonstrated ability to use data to drive decisions. You are comfortable building your own analyses, identifying anomalies in performance data, and designing A/B tests to prove your hypotheses.
- Master Negotiator: You have a proven track record of successfully negotiating complex commercial agreements with Tier-1 PSPs and other payment vendors. You also have experience managing the delicate, high-stakes relationships with acquirers and card networks in a high-risk environment.
- Owner: You are obsessed with the outcome and have a bias for action. This is a zero-to-one role. You will be the first dedicated hire in this function. While dedicated engineering resources will be provided to execute your 90-day mandate, you will be responsible for building out the payments team from the ground up.
